The Seoul Markets Brief
Korean market data, read in English by someone who checks the timestamp. Free, and it stays free — the newsletter is not a paywall funnel and there is nothing to upgrade to.
The Seoul Markets Brief
One email. Korean equities, the won, rates and the economy behind them — with the source and the timestamp attached to every figure. Including the one thing nobody else publishes in English: how close Korean brokerage target prices actually landed.
What is actually in it
Most English-language coverage of Korean markets is a translated summary of a Korean headline, published a day late without saying where the number came from. We start from the release itself — the government dataset, the regulatory filing, the research note — and we say which one, and as of when.
- What moved and against what. Equities, the won, government bonds, commodities — with the release time of every figure, not just the figure.
- The target-price scoreboard. We hold 66,105 Korean brokerage research records going back to 2007-12-03, covering 44 houses and 2,785 listed companies. 55,730of them carry a published target price. That lets us ask a question nobody publishes in English: whose targets actually landed?
- What the data does not show. When a figure is provisional, revised, or simply too thin to carry a conclusion, we say so instead of writing around it.
What is not in it
No tips, no price targets of our own, no trade ideas. We are a data publication, not an adviser — nothing here is investment advice, and we hold no positions. When we report that a brokerage set a target, that is a fact about the brokerage, not a recommendation from us.
How we handle your address
- No account. There is no password, no profile, and nothing to log into. One field.
- We never sell or share the list. Not to advertisers, not to partners.
- We do not log your IP when you subscribe. We store your address, the date you joined, and which page you came from. That is all.
- One-click unsubscribe in every issue. No confirmation loop, no “are you sure”.
When the first issue goes out
Honestly: not yet. We are still filling the archive that the brief is built on, and we would rather start late than start thin. Subscribing now puts you on the list for the first issue — you will not get anything before then, and you will not get anything else.
